At Greenbank we offer Visit Britain 4 star self catering accommodation where dogs are especially welcome (the more the merrier) and may be accompanied by well behaved owners!

Greenbank is situated in an unspoiled corner of the English Lake District near Winster village, which is four miles from Bowness-on-Windermere. We are at the head of the tranquil Winster valley and close to the Lyth Valley (famed for it's Damson orchards). To pinpoint us look fo O.S. Grid Ref. 422925. Landranger sheet 97.

There is splendid walking from the doorstep (see "walks from your doorstep" for suggestions), and quick, easy access to the villages and fells of the Central Lakes, local limestone scars and quiet Kendal area fells. The Howgills are only thirty minutes drive away.

There are excellent hostelries nearby for bar snacks, and we are fortunate to be surrounded by award winning hotel restuarants all within a 15 minute drive. In the villages of Windermere and Bowness are a wealth of eateries to cater for all tastes.

The nearest shopping is at the local post office/general store at Bowland Bridge (approx 5 minutes drive). Windermere and Bowness have a good range of shops (approx 10 minutes drive). Our nearest town is Kendal where you will find excellent town centre and out of town shopping including factory shops and wonderful farm shops.
